Airavat is a brandname of the VOLVO busses of  Karnataka State Transport Corporations. Since I am a great fan of all the corporations of Karnataka Road Transport and also a big fan of Indian Railways, thus this name for my website.

The heading on my blog contains both Bus and Train and in the backdrop there is the picture of  Bellary Railway Station, Bellary is also my home town. Again the Railway station building of Bellary is historical as this building is constructed by the British. Bellary was an important centre for the earstwhile British India. Bellary was under the Madras presidency rule and a contonment was also established by the british.

Now bellary is under Karnataka State after the re-organisation of states. The Railway comes under the jurisdiction of South Western Railway (SWR) and the Road Transport under the jurisdiction of North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC).

While the Railway comes under the jurisdiction of Hubli division of SWR, the Road Transport of Bellary is under the Bellary Division. There are two Depots of NEKRTC in my city which are Bellary-1 and Bellary-2. Apart from ordinary and express busses these depots are also having quite good number of High-end deluxe and Sleeper busses.

While Express busses runs to every part of Karnataka state and some important destinations of the neigbhoring states of  Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and the High-End busses are mainly connected with Bangalore and Hyderabad. A few Rajahamsa routes also connect major cities of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Bellary is also connected well by Railway network. The Guntakal-Hubli route is the major route and there is also Bellary-Chitradurga-Chikjajuru route. One can have a direct connectivity from Vasco, Howrah, Bangalore, Ajmer, Kalyan, Pune and Jodhpur.

Bellary District is also famous for the World Heritage site “HAMPI” which around 70 km from the city. This city is also famous for Jeans
